Pat Skelly obituary


Patricia Ellen Gausz Skelly of Bordentown City passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 21, 2018, after a long illness.  She was 65.  Born May 18, 1953 in Plainfield, N.J., she was raised in Watchung, N.J. Pat was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who will be deeply missed.  She is survived by her loving husband, Michael; her children, Michael and Kathryn of Bordentown; four siblings, John Gausz (Mary Pat), Mary Schwartz (Chris), Carol Gausz, and Ann Schwantes (Jay); along with many nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Marie Skelly, and parents, John and Peg Gausz. 

She earned her B.A. from the University of Delaware (1975) and J.D. from Rutgers University Law School (1978).  She was an Attorney for New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection; then went into private law practice for many years.  She was an Adjunct Professor at Burlington and Gloucester Colleges (now divisions of Rowan University).  She was very active in Bordentown community and was devoted to her family. 

She spent her life protecting our environment, building communities and supporting Environmental Education (EE) throughout the state and nation.  She served as president and longtime Executive Board member of the Alliance for NJ Environmental Education (ANJEE), a statewide professional association.  ANJEE won awards from US EPA and North American Association for EE during her years there.  She served on the Bordentown City Environmental Commission, the Board of Directors of Northeast Sustainable Energy Association, and American Tour De Sol. 

Pat Skelly was a leader in community efforts to start the Bordentown Green Team, to win Sustainable Jersey Awards, Clara Barton Ecological School Yard project, Lime Kiln Alley Park, Community Garden, Library Native Plant Garden, Farmers Market, and Co-founder of Bordentown City Green Fair.  She received a Lifetime Achievement Award from ANJEE in 2017. 

Pat was an avid knitter, enjoyed visiting beaches, farms and gardens, and baking her "mile-high" apple pies.

Jeff Skelskie obituary


Granby, Jeffrey Wayne Skelskie, 70, passed away on February 17, 2019 at home surrounded by loving family and friends.  Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 23 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Beers and Story S. Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton Street, South Hadley MA. with a Celebration of Life ceremony at 4:00 p.m. conducted by Melissa Gibbud.  A short graveside committal will be held on May 11 at 3:00 in Rochester VT at Woodlawn Extension Cemetery.

Jeff was the son of the late Dr. Jacob and Thelma Skelskie.  He attended the Rectory school in Pomfret CT and Proctor Academy in Andover NH.  He graduated from Eureka College.  Jeff put his heart and soul into many volunteer endeavors such as Make-a-Wish, March of Dimes, and the Granby Conservation Commission.

Jeff was on the board of SolarFest, active in the Granby Preservation Society and the Granby Energy Committee.  He also received the Distinguished Service award from Northeast Sustainable Energy Association for his leadership in the Tour de Sol and Junior Solar Sprint.  He was a lifetime member of National Ski Patrol and a PSIA instructor for 30+ years.  Jeff possessed outstanding technical abilities and applied them across his many fields of interest.  His interests were not limited to auto mechanics as an ASE Master Technician for 30+ years, solar/alternative energy gaining him the title "Battery Doctor," car racing supporting the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and all varieties of theatrical arts.  Jeff was know for many things over the years husband, father, and of course friend.  His constant thirst for new adventures blessed him with the ability to develop and maintain strong lifelong friendships.  Jeff is survived by his devoted wife Wenda, son Adam, daughter-in-law Sara, grandchildren Joshua and Samantha, Adam's mother Teresa McPeek Harrison, step brother David Rosenberg and wife Doreen, and cousin Barbara Skelskie Mer and husband Benny.
